The Armor of Life 7th Sanctum by ghost-eye The Armor of Life 7th Sanctum by ghost-eye
Totem Shadow carried the Armor of Life in his claws as he approached the arena where the foreigners were being entertained. By the fortune of the Gods, it was indeed Rage Warden who was in the energy-ring for this bout, swathed in incense smoke, and engaged in a prize match with her husband Strife Maxim. Totem nodded surreptiously to them, and Rage answered with a twitch of her free thumb as she kept a firm headlock on Strife. The fool of a blue-sash that was escorting him looked his way once, then back into the action going on in the ring.

It was going well - the Armor of Life, forged by Umher hands, held a secret power the Owners knew not of, neither the blue sashed masters nor the red-sashed millitants who enforced orders when the pain collars failed. It would free the Hrotupes, and from it Totem and his people would recieve the power to overcome and be free. First, though, the Prophecy had to be fulfilled - for was it not in the Vision of The Serene Grandfather Himself that Hrotupes would not arise again until the Armor of Life had been defiled?

This day would come, for two vile Flux Hags had come to the world, looking for treasure and items of power. The Umher's elders quickly agreed that the act of letting the Armor be sold to such unclean creatures would move Hrotupes to rage. Hrotupes would forgive the Umher for letting such a sacred thing be found and sold, He would know that his Patrons were slaves, He would Arise and fill His children with His Holy Madness, and then no pain collar would stop the Umher from their Destiny.

My first entry for the current Seventh Sanctum Fantasy Folk contest [Link], using the fantasy race generator [Link], using the following result:

"The race of scorpion-people. As a people, they are generally good at wrestling. They are famous for their armor. Their government is efficient. They exist only as slaves. They are intimately connected to an important prophecy."

For the slave owners, I used this result:

"The race of humans. They are dusky skinned and brown haired. They are noted for their marines and their slavers. They are well-known for their plays. They have a rich culture. Their government is a theocracy. They barely control a state that is prone to earthquakes."

Totem Shadow, Rage Warden and Strife Maxim's names were generated from the fantasy name generator here [Link], the Umher & Hrotupes names were generated from the angel or demon name generator here [Link], and the Serene Grandfather and the Armour of Life are results from the weird name generator [Link]

In the interests of keeping a personal Seventh-sancti-verse continuity, I also chose to include in the background a couple of old creations from previous contests; the bison-like Naulor from my first entry [Link], and the Eel-Mantises & Flux Hags from my second [Link].
(if this is not ok by the contest rules, I'll submit something else and change this to a 'for fun' entry)

Yep, blame everything on them Flux Hags & Naulor - if there's a conspiracy around somewhere, they're both probably behind it meddling away, each one thinking it has the better of the other..

- not 100% happy with this one, I'm putting this up to mark a spot, & I'll hopefully reupload a better version before the contest closes.

Oh wow, you've done an amazing job of bringing this race to life - so much depth in the little glimpse of story that you've given us! This is fantastic; good luck!
